Customer Support

If you're here, it's probably because you're having a problem with an order or a download. If so, we apologize for any problem you're encountering. Here's what we ask:

  1. First, read through the FAQ below; if we're lucky it'll resolve your problem.
  2. If that doesn't help, please email us at customerservice@manifestogames.com.
  3. If it's really urgent (or you're not happy with the response to an email), call us at (212) 488 6860 and ask for customer service. No, you won't get an automated phone system, you will get a real person (well, if calling during normal business hours, 9-5 EST)--and for that reason, we'd prefer to handle the problem by email, if we can. We're not a big company, we do want to make you happy, but we also don't have dozens of people standing by to receive your call.

When you email or call, please have ready:

  1. Your userID for the site.
  2. If it's related to an order, the order number would be great; at a minimum, the name of the product you ordered.

I lost an activation code for a game I bought! What do I do?
Click on "my codes" on the top menu, after you've logged onto the site. It should be there. If not, email us and explain the problem; we'll get back within 24 hours (and likely less).

I installed the game okay before, but now I can't install it any more!
Typically, we allow installation of a game on up to three machines with your activation code (so you can have it on your home machine, your laptop, the machine in the kid's room, whatever). If you -really- need it installed on a fourth, or if your hard-drive was replaced or something and you're trying to reinstall fresh, it's possible the installation would fail because you're beyond your limit of three installs. No biggie, write us and explain... We can authorize another installation. In fact, by and large, we're happy to do this if its reasonable--if you want to install it on forty machines, well, no. Sorry.

Note that, however, we do offer some games as an "affiliate" of other retailers, who have different rules about how many machines you can install on (usually one). In this case, if you have a problem, we can commiserate, and we're happy to shoot off an email to our contact in the hope that they'll escalate the problem and maybe help you out, but it is sort of out of our hands at that point.

What's this "Activate by Phone" option for?
If you don't have a net connection and want to install the game for some reason, select this option, and give us a phone call (during our business hours). When you get the right person, they'll ask for the challenge code on your screen, and will then read you an unlock code that will work with the game. It's almost always much easier and quicker to activate by the Internet, but we provide this as a fall-back for you.

The game won't start!
This is usually because the game requires you to install some piece of software on your machine that you don't have. Do a search on the game's name here, and look at the requirements for it. The likeliest culprits are that it requires a) DirectX, b) the Microsoft .NET framework, or c) a Java runtime environment. If any of these are the case, you can get what you need here:

  • DirectX
  • .NET (this is Microsoft's main download page; .NET usually shows up in one of the list of most popular downloads, but if not, just search on .NET here).
  • Java Standard Edition

Also, some older games require the Indeo video codecs, which you won't have if you're running XP (Service Pack 2 or later). See our page on this issue.

I wanted to buy a game but your site says it can't sell it to people in my country!
Yep, it happens. In some cases, we don't have world-wide rights to a particular game--maybe only US or North America, maybe everywhere -except- North America, or except Argentina, or something. We like to get world rights when we can, but sometimes a developer has an exclusive deal with someone else for some territories. Sorry about that. Oh, there's another possiblity, although it's rare--you may live in a country embargoed by the US State Department (like, say, North Korea or Cuba), in which case we're forbidden by law to sell you anything. And yes, we're evil communistic anti-statist scum, and we think sanctions are completely futile, and that the best thing that could happen to people in countries like, say, North Korea or Cuba is to be exposed to fine gaming products that would make them realize the benefits of living in a free society where such things are widely available, but we also do have to abide by the laws of the country in which we are incorporated, because we don't fancy large fines or a stint in jail.

I am highly offended that you sell games that contain kinky sex/way too much violence/evangelical Christian dogma/lounge music/naked elf chicks/whatever it is that particularly offends me.
Sorry. If you don't like it, please don't buy it. Yes, we do have some standards (we aren't selling white supremacist games, for instance) but we aren't offended by much ourselves.

I bought a game and started downloading it, but my machine crashed or I lost a net connection... Will I still be charged?
Well, yes--but you should be able to resume downloading it. Just go to "My Files" (a link on the top menu bar), and there should be a link on that page to let you continue with the download. If there isn't, then we goofed--email us, and we'll set it up so you can download again.

You're all a bunch of vile, console-game hating elitist gamers-manqué, and a bunch of flaming commies to boot!
Oh no! You're onto us!
